Full-Time Production Counsel, The Bachelor Franchise

Job Description

The Daily:

  • Responsible for all legal production matters of “The Bachelor” reality television franchise, including drafting contestant agreements (and negotiating riders if applicable), vetting of contestants, trade-out agreements (where the company receives discounted services or goods in exchange for promotional consideration), hotel rooming agreements, musical guest agreements, guest host or host agreements, staff and employment service agreements, deal memos, location agreements, and releases (e.g., appearance, materials and waivers, including overseeing translations), and production services agreements.
  • Advises on clearance (including copyright, music, defamation, right of privacy and publicity, and BS&P) matters prior to production and reviews episodes and podcasts for clearance purposes.
  • Provides general production legal support in reviewing or drafting airplane charter/freight agreements, transportation agreements, agreements for parking, rentals, and coordinating with immigration counsel for visas.
  • Provide legal counsel in connection with production, distribution and marketing of such projects.
  • Involved in policy decisions relating to social media, DEI matters, casting, and safety.
  • Interact with Executive Producers, Network, and other production executives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Will report to the SVPs of Unscripted Warner Bros. Television Group.

 

The Essentials:

  • JD Required.  Top tier school preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-8 years of practicing law with a national law firm, a major firm or television studio, or major online service or platform.
  • Must have knowledge of law and legal environment of entertainment industry sufficient to draft and negotiate legal documents and counsel management on legal implications of their actions.
  • Must be able to analyze, draft and negotiate contracts.
  • Must be able to research legal questions and communicate responses effectively to all levels of corporate and production staff.
  • Must be able to write in a well-organized, concise and precise manner.
  • Must be able to supervise paralegal and clerical subordinates engaged in performance of legal-related tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage numerous projects in a dynamic environment
  • Must be able to travel domestic and international (20%)
