Full-Time Principal Software Engineer

In this Role:

  • You will draw from a deep and broad technical expertise to mentor engineers, complete hands-on technical work and provide leadership on complex technical issues.
  • You will mentor others in development technologies, tools, and processes.
  • You will be a senior member of a highly effective Agile team that leverages the Kanban framework.
  • You will work with a close-knit team of developers, designers, product managers and QA testers – excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • You will serve as lead on demanding, multi-team, cross-functional projects.
  • You will master our development process, culture and code base, then improve it.
  • Develop test strategies, design automation frameworks, write unit/functional tests to drive up code coverage and automation metrics.

What do you need to succeed:

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience as a full stack developer.
  • Elite problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • You will have a track record of understanding business context to help inform decisions made.
  • Ability and desire to learn, adapt, and grow within the context of the team.
  • Strong understanding of design patterns, OOP principles, and performance optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and design patterns for building scalable and highly available mission critical systems.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to effectively balance competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience designing and building REST APIs.
  • Desire to enhance technical aptitude with the opportunity to also manage and mentor teammates.
  • Experience integrating with disparate platforms.
  • Experience working with a distributed and diverse team.
  • Experience with Web UI Technologies such as Angular and React.
  • Experience transforming business requirements into elegant designs and clean, unit tested code.
  • Experience working on a cross functional Agile Scrum team.
  • Experience implementing unit / integration / UI tests to increase overall quality.
  • Experience working with relational databases, MySQL preferred.
  • Experience with modern languages, Java / Node / PHP / Python / etc.
