Full-Time Primary Care Physician

Job Description

Under the general direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Primary Care Physician will provide preventative care and consultation for family and internal medicine. They will utilize their skills while consulting with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment; and recommends and orders tests to determine extent of illness or to help diagnose condition.

Reports to:  Chief Medical Officer

 

Essential Functions

  • Provide comprehensive primary health services to Medical Clinic patients in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease;
  • Acts as primary healthcare clinician within the scope of their primary care, to include preventative care, immunizations, health education, prescribing of medications, ordering and interpreting lab testing, physical examinations and nutrition;
  • Refers patients to specialists as necessary;
  • Performs HRC procedures;
  • Documents all patient care activities in Electronic Health Record (EHR);
  • Orders or executes various tests; analyses and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition;
  • Administers and prescribes treatments;
  • Participate in weekly clinician meetings;
  • Participate in community forums/medical education programs as requested;
  • Maintain EHR documentation of all services rendered, including examination, treatment and referrals;
  • Maintain working relationship with all DAP HIV Medial Clinic staff, to ensure continuity of care to all patients;
  • Demonstrate superior mentoring and supervisory skills that engenders strong clinical leadership;
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Doctor of Medicine degree (MD);
  • Experience working in a non-profit clinic;
  • Must possess Federal DEA License;
  • Excellent clinical skills.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Knowledge and experience in the care and treatment of diseases associated with HIV/AIDS; HIV Specialist certification through the American Academy of HIV Medicine required upon hire;
  • Previous experience providing HIV care
  • Epic EHR software experience;
  • Desire and ability to teach;
  • Experience working in FQHC;
  • Experience working with LGBTQ clients;
  • Transgender Competency;
  • HRA Certification
  • Experience working with an ANCHOR Study
  • Bilingual/Spanish.

License(s) and Certification(s)

  • Licensed Medical Doctor in the state of California;
  • AAHIVM;
  • Board Certification in a Primary Care discipline;
  • Public Health and General Preventive Medicine (with extensive clinical experience)
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross accredited BLS certification.

 

Working Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates in a clinical set and requires frequent times of sitting, standing, walking, speaking and repetitive motion. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Job may involve contact with patients or patient specimens. Exposure to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens, is possible.  Access to patient protected health information required.
