We are looking for a Power Scholars Program Manager to join our team! All YMCA Child Care team members receive benefits and perks – including free child care!

The success of Power Scholars relies on the teamwork of youth development professionals alongside a Program Manager. As the Program Manager, you will oversee the educational quality of the program and implement the program model to create the best learning environment for all scholars. You will provide leadership, instruction, and motivation for program participants by providing a quality experience to children and parents.

If hired for this position you will support with:

Program Planning:

  • Participate in the summer program planning process prior to the start of the program.
  • Assist with site parent events, and assisting parents in filling in paperwork and follow-up phone calls.
  • Complete program training along with site staff in preparation for program launch.

Program Management:

  • Ensure that the goals of the program are achieved for each scholar.
  • Manage and evaluate staff to ensure proper staffing ratios, instruction, and success of the program.
  • Assist in coordinating activities and events for parents, scholars, and staff, including field trips, guest speakers, and community service projects.

Developing Partnerships:

  • Serve as the connection between the program and the scholars’ parents to ensure support for their child’s growth.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 21
  • One year or full time equivalent in management experience, preferably in a child care/educational field.
  • Experience working in urban communities and managing an OST program or other community-based youth program
  • Sensitivity to the needs of families including adults and children
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing different levels of staff
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with parents, administrators, staff, and scholars
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and organization skills
  • Strong technical skills, with ability to learn new programs quickly as needed
  • Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.
  • Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day.  Complete other online and in-person training as required.

Starting Wage: $19.53+ per hour, depending on qualifications

Hours: Part-Time 25 hours per week
