The Challenge
We are looking for a Disability Medical Consultant Physician to join our DMV Medical Review team in our Rocky Mount headquarters.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Lead, direct, and oversee our DMV Medical Review Advisory team.
    • Develop policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
    • Lead organizational development, manage resources,  and establish the overall direction of the Medical Review Unit in reviewing/evaluating medical records of licensed drivers/driver license applicants who currently have a medical condition that may negatively impact their ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
    • Ensure that NC General Statutes are upheld and fair policies and procedures for the review of medical records are implemented to make determinations on citizen driving privileges. (License evaluations may be done based solely on documentary evidence or information presented within the bounds of Medical Review Board hearings.)
    • Develop processes to manage medical cases.
    • Provide medical expertise to assist DMV Customer Compliance Services in determining medical competency for driving.
 
What You Bring
    • Considerable knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of general preventive medicine and techniques.
    • Thorough knowledge of normal/abnormal physical, emotional, and mental development, and the impacts of these disorders at different stages of life.
    • Knowledge of the usual symptoms and functional impairments caused by physical, emotional, and mental disorders, the typical course/prognosis, and expected treatments responses.
    • Demonstrated ability to compile clear and concise notes and case analysis and to discuss cases with other medical professionals and administrative staff.
    • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration, and state and federal laws and statutes.
Management Prefers
Candidates with:
    • Management experience in the principles, techniques, and practices of managing, supervising, evaluating, training, coaching, overseeing professional development, and motivating staff.
    • Experience and knowledge of State of NC personnel policies and procedures.
    • Experience meeting deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy while working independently or as part of a team
    • Proven ability to handle a high-volume workload and multi-tasking projects.
Education and Experience
    • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina.
