ABOUT THE ROLE

Our in-house Creative team is a tight-knit group that includes art directors, photographers, designers, and copywriters who all work together to help bring our brand to life, both on the page and online. The Retoucher will be responsible for all of the post production of images for our website, catalog and social media platforms.

ABOUT YOU

You love Photoshop and bringing out the final vision of image creation. You are as comfortable collaborating with others as you are working on your own. You know when to be flexible, but always maintain high standards for original concepts and detailed executions. You have a passion for still life and product photography, and appreciate the beauty of an on-white silo image. You are able to manage several projects, and people, at the same time, while not sacrificing quality or impacting deadlines. You can work quickly in a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

This role will work on the retouching and color management of images that will appear in a range of marketing materials, with a primary focus on e-commerce photography. You have extreme attention to detail while maintaining excellent quality standards.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs full image retouching including, clean up, merging multiple images when needed, color correction/shifting, masking, cropping and composting according to established protocols and deadlines
  • Receptive to feedback on image markups placed by Sr. Retoucher, Photographers and Art Directors, collaborating closely with them to fulfill the creative vision.
  • Match color back to actual product samples and ensure color consistency between image assets
  • Maintain a strong sense of the Uncommon Goods visual aesthetic through all imagery.
  • Update and maintain the digital archive of images

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in a visual/creative discipline, studio art, fine art, or photography is preferred
  • A robust retouching portfolio that demonstrates consistency and proficiency in product retouching, color correcting and compositing
  • Understanding of color theory, color correction, RGB/CMYK color space and conversions
  • Possess expert level of color correction and masking with an understanding of the studio photography process
  • Understanding of digital photography and light
  • Proficient in Capture One Pro, Adobe Creative Suite and Mac OS
  • Good communication skills
  • A kind and engaged collaborator
  • Ability to perform work onsite in the Brooklyn Army Terminal Building, Brooklyn, NY
