Peer Recovery Coach (PT)

EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 82,000 people in need through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks a Peer Recovery Coach to work part time in the Collaborative Legal Engagement and Addiction Response (CLEAR) Program.

The Peer Recovery Coach (PT) position is a non-exempt position paying $22 per hour at 21 hours per week. Available shifts include: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 8AM-4PM or 4PM-12AM. The office is located in Brooklyn, NY and the role reports to Program Director. 

Primary Purpose of Job:

The Peer Recovery Coach for the Brooklyn Collaborative Legal Engagement and Addiction Response (CLEAR) program is responsible for providing on-going culturally responsive and appropriate support for participants referred to the program by fostering positive relationships and connecting them to services in the community.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Respond to precincts throughout Brooklyn to talk to prospective participants about the program and its benefits.
  2. Identify and facilitate emergency resources for participants.
  3. Encourage participants to visit with the program Case Manager and follow up with referrals to community-based support resources and other ancillary services.
  4. Meet with clients on an on-going, as needed basis on and off-site and be available via email and cell phone for support, advice, and guidance.
  5. Provide a Naloxone kit and training to participants if needed.
  6. Participate in team meetings.
  7. Participate in regularly scheduled on-going trainings and supervision.
  8. Maintain client charts and notes, update after each interaction with the client and have available for inspection by supervision at any time.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  1. High School diploma or educational equivalent required.
  2. Must have good communication skills, both oral and written.
  3. OASAS/OMH Peer Specialist Certification or peer specialist training such as Howie the Harp Peer Advocacy and Training Center Peer Specialist Program preferred.
  4. Ability to work cooperatively with multiple agencies.
  5. Knowledge of target population and borough resources.
  6. Willing to travel throughout Brooklyn.
  7. Ability to work nights and weekends.
  8. Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.

This position requires the incumbent to provide acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
