Full-Time Peer Mentor – Nassau County Treatment Court Expansion

Job Description

EAC Network seeks a Peer Mentor to work full time for its Nassau County Treatment Court Expansion program. The position is Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM (with the possibility of one late night). The position offers excellent benefits medical/dental/401K and very generous Paid Time Off Plan.

Primary Purpose of Job:

The Peer Mentor is responsible for providing on-going culturally responsive and appropriate support for clients referred to the program by fostering positive relationships with program participants and facilitating groups.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in planning for services for clients, through face-to-face meetings and facilitation of group discussions.
  2. Assist program participants in completing required assignments.
  3. Meet with clients on an on-going, as needed basis on and off-site and be available via email and cell phone for support, advice, and guidance.
  4. Participate in team meetings.
  5. Participate in regularly scheduled on-going trainings and supervision.
  6. Assist in connecting clients to community-based support resources, clubhouses, and other ancillary services.
  7. Maintain client charts and notes, update after each interaction with the client and have available for inspection by supervision at any time.
  8. Assist Case Managers in maintaining caseloads and toxicology testing.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  1. High School diploma or educational equivalent required.
  2. Must have good communication skills, both oral and written.
  3. Ability to work cooperatively with multiple agencies.
  4. Knowledge of target population and area resources. Experience with group facilitation and using cognitive behavioral therapies, motivational interviewing and/or positive youth development preferable.
  5. Must be proficient in computer applications necessary to perform job responsibilities.

This position requires the incumbent to provide acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination or undergo weekly PCR Testing.
