Full-Time Payroll Specialist

Job Description

Premier Talent Partners is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our internal corporate team in Lafayette, CA. This person will be responsible for managing payroll for both internal and contract employees. This role processes, tracks and monitors all aspects of Payroll, including developing and updating systems and processes, documentation and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal laws.  The Payroll Specialist reports to the Finance Systems Manager and works closely with our Finance Manager, People Operations teams. Responsibilities:

  • Owns the Internal and External Payroll administration and processes
  • Perform all activities necessary to process payroll, including auditing timekeeping records for compliance with established standards, maintaining time and attendance records, documenting and updating procedures, bonuses and expense reimbursements
  • Manually enter time/hours for our VMS employees
  • Ensure payroll is produced accurately, timely and securely, process off-cycle payroll as necessary (one off final paychecks, manual checks etc)
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for client and candidate questions regarding payroll and timekeeping system
  • Live out Premier’s values of integrity, connection and care with all correspondence and service to our employees, both internal and external
  • Manage mass email communication to notify candidates and clients of pertinent payroll related news (ie. holiday scheduling and year-end expectations)
  • Update payroll procedures and workflows and maintain documentation of all on an ongoing basis
  • Works closely with the Benefits Manager for insurance and benefits reconciliations on a weekly basis
  • Manage W2 processing, distribution, and follow through with needed adjustments
  • Lead own professional development activities staying abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of payroll processing and time reporting. Stay informed of federal, state, and local regulations and related to wage and hour laws to ensure compliance
  • Develop individual OKRs/goals that align with and support team and company goals
  • Maintain consistent focus and meet and exceed daily, weekly, monthly and annual OKRs/goals. Meet with your team weekly to proactively review and report on progress, accountability, metrics and goals
  • Welcome and seek out consistent and regular feedback from leadership and your team to support the achievement of individual and team short term and high-impact goals. Provide feedback regularly to your team and manager
  • Responsible for collecting, forwarding incoming Mail in Lafayette, CA office
  • Manage and respond to all incoming EDD claims in a timely manner
  • Manage and respond to all Employment Verifications for Contract & Internal Workforce
  • Assist People Operations in monthly Form I-9 audit
  • Various special projects as needed
