Clark College is currently seeking applicants for a part-time Baking and Pastry Lab instructor in the Bakery Department. This part time position is two days per week, three hours and 20 minutes per day.  This is a hands-on lab environment. Faculty will work directly with the students teaching a variety of early morning products.

This part-time position is an ongoing recruitment in which applications are collected year-round. Applicants must be available to teach the daytime, evening or weekend hours. Positions will be filled as program needs arise.

GENERAL FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach the Early Morning Products class which covers scones, muffins, biscuits, donuts and pies.
  • Instruct class and lab utilizing techniques and knowledge of ingredients, their functions and the process of baking that facilitates student learning
  • Instruct students on proper, safe use of equipment and tools.
  • Strive to enhance teaching and active learning techniques.
  • Use appropriate teaching methods to respond to varying student learning styles.
  • Effectively use computer applications for instruction and communication where appropriate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the mission of the College, its student population, and educational goals
  • Uphold baking and pastry department curriculum standards
  • Strive to enhance teaching and learning techniques.
  • Work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Understand and commit to the mission of Clark College.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Associate’s degree in Baking and Pastry OR five (5) years of industry experience.
  • Experience in mentoring, training, or teaching.
  • Ability to work well as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Vaccination requirement: Per Washington State Proclamation 21-14.1: college employees must be fully vaccinated. Your COVID-19 vaccine status must be validated by the Human Resources office prior to the commencement of work. Requesting a disability or religious exemption would be done through the Human Resources office.

SALARY STATEMENT: Lecture hourly rate is $78.48, and lab hourly rate is $67.03.
