YOUR OPPORTUNITY

As the Open Wing Alliance Training & Event Specialist, you will be accountable for the planning, execution, and expansion of the Open Wing Alliance’s virtual and in-person trainings, conferences, and webinars, with a focus on our annual Global Summit to End Cages and personalized trainings. The alliance has experienced significant expansion in recent years, and your role plays an integral part in meeting the growing needs of our member organizations. This position reports directly to the Open Wing Alliance Membership Manager.

This is a full-time, remote position. This position requires both domestic and international travel, this is equivalent to approximately 4-8 trips per year. We are only able to consider applicants who reside in the United States and possess United States work authorization.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Owns and oversees all logistics of OWA global events, trainings, and webinars, both virtual and in person. This includes visioning and goal creation, scheduling, program development, budget adherence, execution, and evaluation
  • Develops and oversees a global Training Committee, a group of qualified peers who can lead and facilitate corporate outreach or campaign trainings
  • Fosters continuous improvement and expansion of training programs through long term program evaluation and by recommending process improvements, content upgrades, or new technology or tools
  • Oversees planning of the Annual Global Summit with support from an event team
  • Assists Regional Coordinators in the planning, execution, and evaluation of Regional Summits (currently in Africa, Asia, and Latin America), primarily supporting program structure, development, and logistics
  • Assists Director of OWA in planning, execution, and evaluation of annual team retreat
  • Attends live OWA events to moderate, provide technical and speaker support, act as frontline contact, and supports team through troubleshooting
  • Processes incoming requests for events and maintains organized and accessible records, including long term evaluation, on past events
  • Prioritizes Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in our events so that attendees of all cultures, backgrounds, and languages can access and engage with our material
  • Identifies opportunities to strengthen coalition morale and increase engagement during events
  • Manages and updates OWA events calendar, including external conferences with potential for OWA participation
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 3+ years of experience developing content and curriculum for trainings with diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of teaching methods and learning styles, such as Instructional System Design (ISD) or Adult Learning Theory principles
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and evaluate logistics for a variety of events
  • Ability to engage and excite learners and a successful track record of facilitation experience
  • Ability to execute tasks in a thorough, accurate, and timely fashion while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to adapt quickly, adjust and problem solve in response to unforeseen circumstances or changing priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills with a solid attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as cross-functional team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Available to work outside of traditional work hours due to global environment
  • Professional, diplomatic, and culturally sensitive to ensure that THL is well represented and to optimize collaboration between partner groups

Starting salary $47,350 or salary to commensurate with experience.
