Full-Time Online Operations Specialist

Job Description

To support our mission, we seek an Online Operations Specialist to join our team in Reston, VA.

In this role you will be an advocate for improving user experience across multiple digital platforms. You will have an understanding of marketing communications, email marketing best practices and will have the technical ability to maintain and train others to work in platforms such as Blogs, WordPress, Engaging Networks and Sitecore. You will work closely with many teams across the organization to ensure services and deliverables are fulfilled in a timely and high-quality manner. You will also feel comfortable defining requirements documentation and validating work completed by the development team.  You will report to the Project Manager on the Digital Design and Strategy Team.

In this role you will:

Understand online behavior, usability best practices, and advocate for a smooth user experience across digital platforms (including blogs, web pages, email, donation forms, and action alerts)

Create requirements documentation and wireframes, and work with developers to test and implement changes to digital properties

Recommend and implement email marketing functionality improvements and email messaging automation

Conduct Quality Assurance of Production Team Engaging Networks builds

Use JIRA to manage tasks and schedules

Manage and train others to use the internal NWF blog site

Manage and train others to work within WordPress websites, be able to create new sites and update existing sites

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

5+ years of experience in digital marketing technology and user experience design

Experience in a dynamic corporate, nonprofit, or media environment with proven expertise in marketing technology and user experience design principals is essential 
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and provide quality deliverables with a high attention to detail and accuracy
Experience building WordPress sites, blog sites, emails, donation pages, action alerts and other similar content
General understanding of HTML and CSS. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and JavaScript.
Proficiency in building and ability to train others on the use and administration of WordPress websites
Basic understanding and interest in analytics as it applies to online properties, ecommerce, and emails
Ability, and desire, to learn new technical tools and processes quickly and thoroughly

Capable of being assigned a role on large projects and independently working on deliverables

Strong desire to advocate for and engage in process improvement

Ability to act as consultant on best use of applicable systems to meet business goals

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Flexibility, determination, and a sense of humor

Shares the values of the National Wildlife Federation: collaboration, mindfulness, empowerment, inclusivity, and mission focus
 Preferred Skills:

Previous experience working with an enterprise fundraising and/or advocacy platform a plus
Experience with Engaging Networks and with the JIRA task-management system a plus
Love for wildlife and conservation of our natural spaces is a big plus
Travel Requirements:

There will be minimal travel in this role, 1-2 days a year, to attend trainings or conferences.
