Full-Time On-Call Speech Pathologist

Overview

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D School of Medicine is searching for a On-Call Speech Pathologist. Responsible for collaborating with an interdisciplinary health professional team in the Oral Cleft Clinic. This position will focus exclusively on providing clinical services. The speech pathologist will be part of a multidisciplinary health care team including physicians, nurses, dieticians, social workers, multiple subspecialists, as well as medical students and residents. The clinic serves as a resource for the region, providing multidisciplinary care and consultation for children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of genetic, congenital, and developmental disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Provides evaluation and treatment recommendations for children and adolescents with cleft lip/palate and other related conditions.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team case conferences.
  • Document patient care and actions per clinic standard.
  • Maintains CEUs required by license.
  • Availability to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time sensitive projects.
  • Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Ability to use an Electronic Health Record.
  • Current state licensure.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in EMR.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in word processing and file management using Microsoft Office and other software as required by the department.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in grammar and spelling skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret, comprehends, and transmits complicated and detailed instructions accurately.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in organization of work flow.
  • Able to perform duties independently, with a minimal need for direct supervision.
