Full-Time Master Control Tech III

Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Responsible for advanced knowledge in operating the Master Control switcher, manning proper audio and video levels and overseeing our channels air performance and accuracy resulting in a quality on air shift in a senior technician role. An operator level III should be present on each Master Control shift.
  • Responsible for resolving complex problems not covered by existing practices.
  • Training, guiding and coaching new operators.
  • Observing and recording transmitter power and frequency readings, adjusting them to legal limits if necessary.
  • Aligning satellite receiver dish, adjusting audio and video levels as well as recording programs while down linking satellite feeds.
  • Responsible for back-timing and adjusting all On Air
  • This person could be assigned to control room productions both live and recorded.
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • 1-2 years vocation/technical training or an Associates Degree.
  • Currently or recently performing duties as a technical director of automated live programming, preferably at least 3 years prior experience. Supervisory experience helpful.
  • Working knowledge of state-of-the-art video switchers and effects
  • Familiar with routers, video servers, audio consoles, robotic studio cameras, graphics systems and studio production equipment.
  • 5-8 years of operating a Master Control switcher in a television station or equivalent experience in a video production facility.
  • 2 years prior commercial television experience; 3 years experience preferred.
  • Sony ELC automation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of studio systems including robotic camera operation.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Advanced knowledge of Master Control. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Advanced knowledge of operating various videotape machines, video servers, scopes and switchers.
  • Advanced knowledge of transmitter power parameters.
  • Advanced knowledge of machine playback from a variety of tape formats.
  • Experience with automation systems.
  • Good organization, attention to detail and proactive thinker.
  • Must be able to perform duties with accuracy, under exact and immediate deadlines.
  • Must have good mathematic skills, especially with addition and subtraction.
  • Must have good manual dexterity.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long period of time
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach overhead.
