About this Position

Position Overview 

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for responding to internal and external communications requests as well as maintaining the Urban Teachers website on the WordPress platform. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working across teams in our National office and with local teams in Baltimore, Dallas and Washington, DC. This person will work on a three-person Marketing and Communications team and report to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

WordPress Administration & Internal Website Management – 25%

  • Manage the Urban Teachers website, working with external vendors as needed.
  • Develop, manage and maintain content within the Communications, Human Resources, Board and Finance sections of the Urban Teachers intranet.
  • Support participant facing digital content and design.

General Communications Tasks – 50%

  • Develop and/or edit copy for marketing and communications materials including but not limited to press releases, brochures, pitch decks, presentations, emails and newsletter blurbs.
  • Support development of materials and presentations for Board of Directors meetings.
  • Create and manage marketing/communications calendar.
  • Onboard new hires to Urban Teachers communications standards and resources.
  • Develop and deploy staff and faculty bi-weekly e-newsletter.

Asset Development and Management – 25%

  • Develop an asset collection plan and calendar.
  • Create, organize and maintain asset libraries.

Position Requirements

  • Two to four years of professional experience with at least one year of experience in maintaining a custom theme WordPress site.
  • Experience with customer relationship management platforms and email marketing automation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Strong writing and editing ability.
  • Pardot/Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, web design or similar field preferred.

Details

Location & Schedule

  • Due to COVID-19, our physical offices are closed, and our staff and faculty are working virtually until further notice. The National office is located in Baltimore and we would prefer a teammate who could eventually work in Baltimore, though we will make exceptions for an all-star candidate.
  • During typical working conditions, we operate on a Monday to Friday schedule with flexibility for remote work a few days per week. Evening and weekend work will be required occasionally.

Target start date for this position is March 1, 2021 or sooner.

Compensation & Benefits

We anticipate that this position will be compensated between $53,000 and $58,000 annually.
