Full-Time Manager of Production Operations – Posted by Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States

Job Description


The position of Manager of Production Operations is a full-time exempt position reporting to the General Manager Center Operations. This role performs a critical function in ensuring the successful running of venue production for all Mann produced events including private facility rentals, and interfaces both internally and externally.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Submits labor calls for all union labor needs as required by the tour and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), includes Local 8 Stagehands, Teamsters Local 107, and Wardrobe Local
  • Schedules nonunion venue staff, Production Assistant, Venue Receptionist, and Concierge during the operational season.
  • Advances production needs with the promoter/tour for all stage productions, and ancillary events including Mann Presents, performing arts events (orchestra, ballet, opera).
  • Updates venue tech packs for both stages as required.
  • Hires Philadelphia Police as needed for events.
  • Hires Licenses and Inspection (L&I) if required.
  • Hires bootleg t-shirt detail (if required).
  • Manages communications with Fairmount Park regarding the calendar and holds for picnic areas will be used for parking at MCPA events.
  • Uploads labor sheets for finance (distribution of benefits).

  • Approves all production-related invoices and expenses.
  • Handles and submits weekly payroll for all venue
  • Orders pyrotechnics as required and completes all necessary permits.
  • Completes applications for all permits as and when required.
  • Liaises with Senior Events Manager regarding production-related security postings.
  • Provides all production-related expenses to whoever has the responsibility for settling shows/events.
  • Creates daily event schedules to be distributed to all departments including 24-hour (operational season only).
  • Creates a daily one-sheet document on day of event to be distributed to all departments.
  • Oversees all hospitality and catering needs in-house productions, Live Nation productions in conjunction with Live Nation Production Manager and all third-party productions (non-Live Nation).
  • Works in conjunction with Director of Facility Operations for all artist dressing room needs, including Maestro’s Room and Green Room.
  • Manages venue phones and IT services.
  • Oversees piano maintenance, tuning and rentals.
  • Other duties as assigned.




Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must have advanced knowledge of and be highly proficient in all Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint). Ability to use CAD is a plus.
  • Must work well independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Very strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to take initiative, demonstrate resourcefulness, respond flexibly to changing work demands, and readiness to work irregular hours.
  • Possess interpersonal communications skills to work effectively and efficiently with a diverse array of external business partners, internal business partners, and colleagues.
  • Ability to collaborate well, be flexible and take direction from other team members.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and can provide own transportation to the venue and administrative office as needed.
  • Ability to think creatively.
  • Knowledge of performing arts required.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk up and down steps and lift < 50Ibs.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination prior to commencing the role.
