Compensation: $70,000 – $80,000 (Annually)

 

LOCATION/HOURS

This is afull-time, hybrid position based out of our New York City office. It is expected that some duties will be performed on-site at least 2-days a week and some remotely, with the understanding that government and public health guidelines will help determine the extent to which it is safe to carry out in-person and onsite activities.

All candidates must be within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY 10005, upon hire.

SUMMARY:

The Manager, Institutional Giving provides support and management of SEO’s foundation and corporate giving programs, including direct responsibility for fundraising for SEO’s community grants program (grants in the $10,000-$50,000+ range) and additional grants responsibility for the Scholars NYC program with a personal annual revenue goal of $550,000-$750,000+. As Manager, you will be required to conduct prospect and donor research to support management and the leadership team in increasing revenue for the organization, develop the case of support for special projects through both internal and external research, collect outcomes management data, develop narrative language to create core proposals, and other proposals for special projects like the Scholars, National Expansion Initiative.

Other duties include: operational and database management, overseeing an annual tracking calendar of cultivation, stewardship, and reporting activities, and general support to the Director in completing grant proposals and funder reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fundraising (40%): Overseeing all aspects of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of community grants and additional grant support for the NYC Scholars program with direct responsibility for securing $550,000-$750,000+ in renewal and new support annually.
  • Direct responsibility for raising $10,000 – $100,000+ (10%) in grants revenue for the SEO Annual Awards gala by completing all requisite funder applications.
  • General support for the Director (25%) in completing all grant proposals and funder reports; and monitoring and coordinating volunteer solicitor portfolios that include institutional donor contacts.
  • Revenue processing (5%): Grants acknowledgments and processing/sharing of grant contracts and forms utilizing best practices for the Development department and in cooperation with the Development Operations team members.
  • Budgeting/Revenue Tracking (5%): Maintaining revenue source reports, solicitation tracking reports and calendars, monitoring expense reports, and producing funding analysis reports.
  • Research and data management (10%): Conducting thorough prospect and donor research, independently and in collaboration with a research consultant; creating and maintaining biographical information in CRM/database and profile reports; maintaining records in department database (Salesforce) and donor files.
  • General grants team office management (5%): Managing filing systems; maintaining calendars and meeting schedules; preparing mailings and general correspondence; fielding calls and taking/tracking RSVPs.

EDUCATION and WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 3 years prior fundraising work experience, preferably in institutional giving and grants preparation. Internships and work-study will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Adept at using technology, including Microsoft Office suite and donor database systems.
  • Salesforce database experience preferred.

  • Ability to see a project through to completion and receive and act upon constructive feedback.
  • Passion for SEO’s mission, and a deep curiosity for and dedication to closing equity gaps.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up/entrepreneurial environment.
  • Must be able to work the occasional evening and weekend as required.

The compensation listed in this posting reflects what SEO believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and SEO reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
