Manager Healthcare Policy – Burlington

The Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association (MHA) serves as the unified voice for Massachusetts hospitals and healthcare providers. Founded in 1936, MHA represents over 100 hospitals, healthcare partners, and patients across the state. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, MHA’s mission is to improve the overall health of the commonwealth and support providers’ efforts to offer high-quality, affordable, and accessible care.

Overview:

The healthcare policy manager develops comprehensive analysis of current and developing national, state and/or local health policy issues and develops policy guidance to assist members with implementing national, state and/ or local health policy issues. Additionally, the manager supports the MHA Advocacy Team with legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts through monitoring, researching, and drafting member advisories and testimony to advance MHA’s agenda, as well as analyzing proposed regulations, preparing regulatory briefings, and member guidance. The manager engages with members, federal and/ or state regulators, and other stakeholders as required.

 

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with members of the healthcare policy, finance, advocacy, and clinical affairs staff, monitor federal and state regulatory, legislative, and budget changes impacting healthcare policy and develop guidance and advisory materials for members to comply with such changes.
  • Synthesize qualitative information, conduct short- term and long- term projects on healthcare policies, and identify trends through written reports and presentations for association staff and members.
  • Work with members, state agencies and other stakeholder organizations and coalitions to advance policy priorities. Provide MHA input at meetings, workgroups, and conferences.
  • In collaboration with advocacy and policy teams, with member input, develop testimony and comment on legislative and regulatory changes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in Health Policy or related degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in public health, healthcare, political or advocacy campaigns. An advanced degree may substitute for up to 2 years of the required experience.
  • Knowledge about the process for developing public policy as well as federal and state legislature and regulatory processes.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry trends, new developments, and terminology.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Ability to research qualitative and quantitative health policy issues.
  • Ability to work independently and excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • In-state travel is required.
