Job Summary:
Working with the Brand Group publishing team the Manager, Data Science will use their skills in statistical data analysis to deliver valuable insights and strategies for marketing, customer behavior, distribution and publishing activities in a brand driven environment.

In this role, you will be driven to find solutions and opportunities across the business. You are passionate about the customer experience and delivering highly effective marketing programs, you have experience in finding and applying data-driven insights to lead business strategies and identify trends and opportunities. You will be a strong and confident communicator, can tell stories through data visualization, who is adaptable to many different levels of data availability, analytics maturity and technology platforms/toolsets and juggling multiple priorities. You will have an opportunity to work with a brand driven, industry leading publisher to grow your skills across the full spectrum of data science in the field of analytics.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing (60%)
• Lead and support analytics on projects of varying sizes and complexities to build brand awareness, generate demand and support our strategic partnerships: including creating automated reports and dashboards, post campaign analysis/reports, ad hoc diagnostic analysis, developing profiling/scoring models and segmentation strategies, web analytics implementation.
• Support direct-to-consumer driven businesses through interpretation of online behaviours including assisting in driving strategy for customer acquisition, loyalty and conversion by developing models, personas, forecasts, scores/indices to meet short/long term objectives/goals.
• Measure ROI of online and offline advertising campaigns. Report on marketing KPIs such as leads, conversion rates, website traffic and social media engagement
• Use advanced analytics techniques on large data sets for the purpose of delivering ad hoc analysis and insights; formulate analytics-enabled solutions in the digital advertising landscape.
• Creation of reports/presentations that are engaging, client-friendly, insightful, incorporating best practices in data visualization and storytelling.
• Work collaboratively with Editorial, Marketing, and Sales groups on cross functional projects and initiatives

Publishing Insights (20%):
• Utilize internal and external sales data to identify editorial trends within publishing programs including themes, authors and linked series to drive product innovation
• Develop ongoing analysis framework to determine effectiveness of deployed keywords and metadata and consistent analysis of competitive usage
• Support ongoing consumer research projects with data driven insights
• With editorial and marketing teams, utilize data sets to develop further insights into seasonality and effective scheduling of branded series publishing program

Sales & Distribution (20%):
• Utilize available data to provide insights into regional and account specific distribution opportunities to provide insight into incremental revenue and margin opportunities
• Develop reporting to understand profitability of book distribution decisions by region and account
• With sales and marketing teams, utilize data sets to develop further insights into distribution efficiency and opportunities
• With pricing team, evaluate role of product distribution and sales with pricing decisions and recommend opportunities to increase margin

Qualifications:
Specific training or job experience required includes:
• Undergraduate degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering, business analytics or marketing science
• 3-5 years of data driven analytics experience that ranges across data wrangling, data blending, data enrichment, descriptive and diagnostic data mining techniques, insights generation, and client presentations.
• At least 2 year working experience on SQL Server, or other structured relational database platforms; and intermediate level of SQL skills.
• Experience working with email marketing platforms such as Adobe Campaign, Exact target (Salesforce Marketing Cloud), Silver pop etc.
• Experience with web analytics platforms such as Google Analytics/Adobe Analytics (Omniture), and a sound understanding of email/web metrics and experience with tag management platforms (DTM, GTM).
• Strong data visualization skills including experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau (preferred), Power BI or MicroStrategy.
• Experience working with digital channels that include email, web, experiential, social or other channels that specifically involved customer level targeted experiences, product marketing experience is preferred.
