NEW HIGHER SALARY: $32,460 – $56,806
The Challenge
We are looking for a Maintenance/Construction Technician to join our Maintenance Operations and Fleet Management team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Perform skilled work using your skills in carpentry, cabinet making, roofing, or painting to maintain and repair facilities involving multiple, moderately-complex trade specialties.
    • Set up and install raco walls and metal stud systems.
    • Travel throughout North Carolina to set up Modular applying your knowledge of Modular and ADA building codes for building and maintenance of structures.
    • Pour cement slabs, and lay brick/blocks.
    • Work on special projects that include the inauguration platform, restoration of historical items, requested stages, and viewing stands.
    • Participate in our NCDOT Safety Program and help verify compliance through regular inspections.
    • Maintain an open line of communication with our shop supervisors and employees, Depot management, our 14 divisions across NC, and customers by phone and in person.
    • Verify quality assurance.
 
What You Bring
    • A state driver’s license.
    • Ability to work independently with little instruction or guidance.
    • Skills to work from sketches/blueprints.
    • Able to follow verbal/written directions.
    • Working knowledge of maintenance and construction skills and woodworking.
    • Working knowledge of methods, practices, and materials used in general maintenance and repair of equipment/machinery.
    • Working knowledge of building process and stages of design including stress points.
    • Skills using tools in more than one moderately-complex trade.
    • Ability to operate common power equipment used in a machine shop or in woodworking.
    • Ability to read and interpret building codes.
    • Strength to lift and move heavy objects.
 
Education & Experience
    • High School/GED diploma, and
    • 1+ year of relevant experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
Note
    • We may require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal Technician.
