We are currently hiring for the position of:

LIBRARY CLERK

Assist the Librarian or Library Assistant with delivery of high quality in-person and virtual reference services to staff and external patrons, including high school students, TIFF members, and graduate students, etc. 

Provide additional administrative and technical support to maintain the library collection, including data-entry in MIMSY XG, creating cataloguing excel spreadsheets, maintenance of collection through shelf-reading, shifting material, and weeding, and other collections and reference duties as assigned. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets library patrons and is part of the front-line of reference services
  • Provides in-person and virtual reference services for external and internal patrons
  • Retrieves and shelves library materials.
  • Tracks daily statistics on technical and user services.
  • Assists with maintenance of the collection through shelf-reading, shifting materials and processing selected incoming materials.
  • Catalogs new items and updates records in the library database, and creates spreadsheets to assist with collection maintenance.

RATE OF PAY:

  • $17/hourly

TARGET CONTRACT DATES:

  • April 1st until December 31st 2023

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some customer service experience required
  • Previous experience working in a library as a page or clerk preferred.
  • Strong interest in cinema
  • Completion of a Library Technician Diploma or Masters degree in Library or Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent; or, currently completing a relevant MLIS professional programme, or equivalent training and experience an asset.
  • Technologically proficient; skilled in data entry. Database experience an asset. 
  • Exemplary telephone and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Must be customer focus 
  • Requires attention to detail 
  • Time Management and organization an asset
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and the occasional weekend (ie: Doors Open Toronto)
  • Available 9-5 Thursday, Friday, 
  • Occasional weekend events such as Doors Open Toronto.
