Job Description

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent classified Library and Archives Paraprofessional 3. The position promotes student success by providing high-quality, flexible, accessible resources and services. Primary responsibilities include oversight of the Resource Sharing program (interlibrary loan and Summit), supervising student employees, assisting with course reserves, and maintaining library open hours. Additionally, the position supports the College’s social equity mission by supporting and encouraging staff and student employees to attend training sessions and participate in weekly discussions on topics of power, privilege, and inequity.

• Oversight of resource sharing program (also referred to as “interlibrary lending”, “interlibrary borrowing”, “document delivery”) and process lending, borrowing, and copying.
• Assist with the hiring, supervising, and training of student employees.
• Provide service desk coverage.
• Configures and provides support for complex library systems, such as the integrated library system.
• Assists patrons by interpreting and consulting on reference research strategies.
• Respond to difficult, stressful, or sensitive interpersonal situations in ways that reduce or minimize potential conflict and maintain good working relationships among internal and external customers.
• Oversee compilation of statistics needed for reports, grants, and budgets, ensuring the accuracy of data.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor or unit Dean.

Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:
Education and Experience: High school graduation or equivalent AND three years’ experience in the functional operations of a library or equivalent education/experience.
Computer Skills and Knowledge of Library Software: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Forms, and OneDrive). Experience using an integrated library system and other library software.
Organizational Skills: Experience with the development and implementation of policies.
Leadership Skills: Strong understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion, especially experience leading with racial equity. Foster productive and professional relationships, demonstrate effective leadership skills, actively participate in various department-level activities, contribute to college-wide projects, represent the college, and collaborate with library consortia, task forces, and committees. Demonstrate the ability to create or maintain a safe, bias-free working environment that engenders respect for differences. Supervisory experience such as hiring employees, developing and implementing employee training, or leading employees or volunteers in projects.
Vaccination requirement: Per Washington State Proclamation 21-14.1: college employees must be fully vaccinated. • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
• The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.

SALARY/BENEFITS: Starting Salary: $3,067 /month Range: 39 Code: 262L
