StitchFix – Posted by SFjobs San Francisco, California, United States

Job Description

At Stitch Fix, our team is made up of people from varied backgrounds, including engineers who built and scaled organizations like Google, Netflix, eBay, GitHub, and LivingSocial. We build modern software with modern techniques like TDD, continuous delivery, DevOps, and service-oriented architecture. Cross-functional partnerships are deeply meaningful to us and are how we’ve built up immense trust with the people running the business.

Stitch Fix’s Shopping engineering team is hiring a React specialist to join our growing team. We build full-stack software that enables clients to shop our various products & styles.

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, data scientists & UX designers to build software that is delightful for our customers to use. You will be an influencer in our team on building better React components.
You’ll work in our team’s primary languages/frameworks – Ruby (Rails) & JavaScript (ReactJS) – by building new features & reviewing teammates’ code. You will be a source of advocacy for React technical investments that make our systems more resilient, and our developer experience more delightful.
You will have the opportunity to develop your non-technical skills by mentoring engineers on your team, leading projects your team is responsible for, and influencing the roadmap of our team. You’ll also participate in our team’s on-call rotation. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in engineering-wide initiatives that aim to improve our culture & developer experience.
You will use synchronous communication tools (video, Slack) and asynchronous tools (Google Docs, Github PR reviews) to collaborate with your distributed team. Four times per year, you’ll have the opportunity to travel to spend time with your team in person.

Stitch Fix is a successful, vibrant, fast-growing company and a data-driven business
You will work collaboratively as a distributed team—we are a primarily remote team and we use GitHub, Slack, and video conferencing extensively to collaborate.
Stitch Fix is at the forefront of tech and fashion, redefining shopping for the next generation.
You will partner and sometimes lead your team to design solutions that enable our business.
You are passionate about React patterns and architecture, and excited to see others growing in their React skills.
You will iterate on our agile-inspired process regularly and we desire your participation and feedback.
We offer transparent, equitable, and competitive compensation based on your level to help eliminate bias in salaries, as well as equity and comprehensive health benefits.
Are serious about our commitment to life-work balance, and have generous parental leave policies.
You are respectful, empathetic, and humble. You take your work seriously and are open to personal and professional growth.
You value collaboration and kind communication. You’re excited about a culture of trust and solving problems together.
You enjoy designing, building, and maintaining distributed systems. You know how to create alignment on technical design decisions.
You have React experience and are interested in developing others in their React skills. You enjoy mentoring and adding clarity for your team.
You have deep respect for your craft. You’re always looking for better ways to write software and are enthusiastic about sharing them with your team.
Have roughly 4+ years of professional programming experience.
Are comfortable working independently to build full-stack features with React
Might have experience with ecommerce or shopping carts
Might have experience with Rails, Postgres, Redis and/or RabbitMQ
At Stitch Fix, we’re about personal styling for everybody and we believe in both a service and a workplace where you can be your best, most authentic self. We’re the first fashion retailer to combine technology and data science with the human instinct of a Stylist to deliver a deeply personalized shopping experience. This novel juxtaposition attracts an extraordinary collection of talented people who are both thinkers and doers. All of this results in a simple, powerful offering to our customers and a successful, growing business serving millions of men, women, and kids. We believe we are only scratching the surface on our opportunity, and we’re looking for incredible people like you to help us carry on that trend.
