The YMCA child care program is more than a daycare.  We are kid focused activity daycare leaders.  At the YMCA child care program we have a passion for having a positive impact on children and families.

As a child care program activity daycare staff you can get paid to play with the kids.  You will have fun teaching kids a love of reading, leading art activities, leading a gym activity, teaching being a good sport and social skills. Engage with children and help them discover the fun in playing, learning and making new lifelong friends.

Requirements and Opportunities:

  • Minimum age of 16
  • No experience necessary
  • Work with infants to age 10 in a diverse group setting
  • Organize and lead a variety of activities appropriate for infants to age 10 children
  • What’s your passion?
    • Activities may include arts and crafts, gym time, games, enrichment activities, reading, nature education, etc.

  • Hours Kids Stuff is open:
    • 9am-12pm Monday-Saturday
    • 5pm-7:30pm Monday-Thursday

$15.00/hour

  1. Job Summary:

The Kids Stuff Staff is responsible for providing quality care to children in a positive, nurturing environment while their parents are using the YMCA facilities.  The Kids Stuff Area could include children between the ages of 6 weeks and 10 years of age.

  1. Job Responsibilities:
  • Greet children and members.
  • Follow correct sign-in and out practices
  • Supervise, play, and initiate games and activities with children.
  • Maintain a safe play environment.
  • Communicate courteously with members.
  • Follow daily sanitizing procedures and help out with weekly cleaning schedules.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Ensure that toys and shelves are organized at the end of the day/shift.
  • Follow all procedures and policies of the department, branch, and Association.
  1. Relationships:

This position reports to the Program Director and take work direction from the Kids Stuff Lead. The incumbent interacts regularly with children and parents.

  1. Qualifications:

 Required

  • Minimum age of 16
  • Experience leading and supervising children
  • Ability to motivate, energize, and entertain children
  • Knowledge of appropriate activities for various age levels – including skill and ability to implement curriculum
  • Required training: building EMG procedure training, SUIDs, AHT, and other trainings on West Bend.
  • Strong organizational and child supervision skills
  1. Work Conditions:
  • Ability to lead and participate in physical activities that may include but are not limited to walking, standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, running, throwing, kicking and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
  • May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.
  • Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently.
