Jr Accountant

Location: Venice CA, Full-Time

Salary Range: $65,000 to $75,000 per year (DOE and state)

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Applies principles of accounting to process, record and ensure accuracy of financial information by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists accountants, controller and CFO with all financial operations.
  • Compiles weekly and monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Prepares and analyzes balance sheets.
  • Makes journal entries.
  • Assists with the month-end and year-end closing process.
  • Manages accounts payable and receivables in conjunction with accounting team.
  • Collaborates with other members of the finance team.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to finance laws and regulations.
  • Analyze financial information and prepare balance sheets.
  • Coordinate with management and staff to prepare budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational guidelines and procedures, and federal and state regulations.
  • Resolve account payable and receivable issues or queries.
  • Accurately perform daily reconciliations of cash, check and credit card transactions, and tally and file invoices.
  • Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
  • Assist in financial and tax audits, and general ledger preparation.
  • Develop monthly financial statements that include cash flow, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets.
  • Complete end of month closing procedures. Investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related (essential).
  • Sound understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
  • Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the superb organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Critical thinker with a high proficiency in math.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent report writing, communication and IT skills.
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft Office and Accounting software packages.
  • Must have good understanding of general accounting
  • Knowledge of Accounting systems, preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office, required.
  • Good written and verbal communications.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Work well in a team environment.
