Full-Time Janitor

Job Description

Compass Housing Alliance is seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Janitor/Custodian for our 210 Alaska Way facility. The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, flexible and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as the need arises. The Janitor will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing floors 2-5 of the building, including lounges, offices, bathrooms, showers, kitchens, dining rooms, and public areas. The Janitor will also be responsible for quarterly projects assigned by Facility Manager. Private guest areas are not included.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMS: The 210 Alaskan Way building houses several Compass Housing Alliance programs including the Day Center, Pioneer Square Men’s Program (PSMP), and Otto’s Place Enhanced Shelter. The Day Center offers basic services to our guests from the community, such as restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, banking/mail services, meals, housing case management, and nursing/mental health support services. Otto’s Place and PSMP provides supportive emergency housing for those experiencing homelessness in a newly renovated facility to support health safety measures.

LOCATION: Pioneer Square neighborhood (Seattle, WA)

REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with evening and weekends as needed

SALARY: $18.00 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma/GED, required.
  • 2+ years janitorial/custodial experience in a multi-family or hospitality environment, required.
  • Willingness to work early morning or stay late into the evening in case of emergencies coverage is needed.
  • Familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, desired.
  • Awareness and/or training around issues of equity, intersectionality, and belonging, desired.
