SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide excellent customer service to the college community using technology across our campus. Serve as a primary technician for all audio / visual request made to the IT Helpdesk. Under general supervision, perform basic to advance technical tasks related to computer hardware and operating systems, classroom and event space A/V, network devices and cabling, telecommunications software and hardware and other devices and solutions supported by IT Services. This is an exempt, administrative position that reports to the Director, IT Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Primary support technician for all classroom audio/visual equipment. This includes, but not limited to, Extron Room Control Systems, both static and interactive display devices, microphones, speakers, document cameras, OWL cameras and in-lectern computers.

Primary support for technology related to Hyflex instruction. This includes, but not limited to, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Canvas Studio, etc.

Conduct/provide: evaluations, recommendations, deployments, inventory, maintenance, repairs, installations, and disposal of audio/visual equipment, classroom technology, and other related technology/equipment.

Create and provide training for audio visual equipment, other technology and supported software to faculty, staff and students as it relates to A/V and digital communication platforms. (Example: Zoom, Skype for Business, Team Meeting, specific room features)

Primary technology liason for events. Work with internal and external groups to confirms events, clarify needs, determines equipment availability based on venue, and schedule accordingly. Serve as primary A/V support for college related events

Perform at first level of escalation (Tier 2) for requests sent from ITS Help Desk. Serve as technical resource on IT projects; perform assigned tasks on schedule and within scope. Function as specialist for assigned systems and solutions within LWTech’s IT portfolio.

Provide technical resolution primarily on-site; escalate unresolved requests to next level within ITS or vendor partner.

Receive, unpack, inventory, assemble, configure, test, return, deploy, move, and surplus a wide variety of IT devices and applications.

Maintain ITS documentation according to standards.

Follow IT security procedures at all times; inform and assist college employees with IT security procedures.

Assist supervisor with department planning of goals and objectives; plan, schedule, train, and direct work activities of employees of lower classifications as assigned; assume and effectively discharge other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience related to the above functions.

• One year minimum IT experience installing and maintaining computer software, hardware, telecommunications, or network infrastructure equipment; or providing customer technical support.

• Working technical knowledge of the latest operating systems, network protocols, and standards.

• Ability to read and understand all relevant documents, including OEM guides, procedural documentation, and technical manuals.

• Good customer-service orientation

IT Technician & Desktop Certifications

• A+ Certified Computer Technician or similar preferred.

• Extron AV Associate certification or relevant room control systems experience

• Experience beyond supporting PC’s to include Apple Products, IP Networks, mobile devices, Cisco phones, and/or classroom teaching technology

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

Compensation

Salary is $5,714.00 per month. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. Typically, work hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. Occasional early morning, evening and weekend hours may be required.
