Full-Time Inventory & Materials Specialist

Job Description

Position Summary

Receipt and handling of materials and equipment, inventory management, and logistics activities to maintain adequate supply for all departments to support research, manufacturing, product testing, and other activities in a cGMP regulated environment.

Essential Functions

  • Receive in materials for inspection or immediate put away, equipment, or packages and confirming that it meets ordered quantity and quality specifications.
  • Confirm accuracy on Bill of Lading and other documents before signing for, and accepting shipments.
  • Resolve inbound receipt issues of material by collaborating with team members and QA.
  • Label, package, and store all incoming and outgoing materials per product requirements and company procedures.
  • Manage in-house inventory levels for GMP, non-GMP materials and supplies at multiple locations to support demands and schedules, while maintaining safety stock levels.
  • Prepare and schedule shipments by coordinating with team, other departments, and facilities.
  • Safely move, disposition and handle materials per company procedures and by working with other departments.
  • Perform material movement transactions in ERP system using the defined procedures.
  • Help identify and resolve “overstock, slow moving, and obsolete” inventory
  • Deliver product to the proper facility, inventory location, or departmental personnel
  • Collaborate with all departments to help resolve inventory issues/discrepancies, problem orders, and intercompany transfer issues.
  • Perform cycle counts as assigned, including participation in the annual company-wide inventory. Be able to resolve and complete a root cause analysis with reconciliation of cycle count discrepancies.
  • Assist with the coordination of supply chain services, critical parts availability, material handling, import-export licensing, and shipment of products.
  • Assist, develop, improve, and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems used within the shipping, receiving, inventory control, warehouse, and logistics functions of the organization.
  • Work closely and communicate across multiple departments to support their material needs.
  • Attend daily Huddle/Stand up meetings with SC team to get updates on daily planning of work and upcoming action items for team or individuals.
  • May perform additional duties as required

Minimum Requirements

Education / Experience / Skills:

  • Requires High School Diploma
  • College degree preferred
  • Experience in receiving and warehouse operations, inventory control, materials management, and material handling equipment preferred.
  • Experience with Kanban and other techniques to improve product flow
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven collaborator with experience in successfully interfacing with various departments
  • Ability to work accurately and independently
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Experience working in cGMP, Biopharma, or scientific environment
  • Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, SAP preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.

  • Ambient temperature-controlled warehouse and office environment
  • 2-8C Walk in Cooler inventory locations
  • -20C and -90C Freezer inventory locations
