Full-Time International Tax Specialist

HMRC – Posted by HMRC England, United Kingdom

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity available within HMRC’s Large Business directorate for an International Tax Specialist, required to work on high-profile risk assessment and enquiry work on some of the UK’s biggest multinational companies. As well as contributing to upstream solutions and policy.
We are responsible for over 2,000 of the largest businesses that pay a significant proportion of the total business taxes and duties that HMRC collects. In this role you’ll play an important part in our efforts to close the tax gap, take the lead on some of the most complex and ground breaking cases and bring them to resolution.
This work attracts a high level of scrutiny from the public and central government bodies, so you’ll need experience of dealing with challenging partners and responding constructively.
We apply a multidisciplinary approach to our enquiry work, giving you the opportunity to lead, work alongside economists, accountants, solicitors and tax professionals. Also enjoying the scope to work across a range of different sectors and industries.
Varied responsibilities will range from leading enquiry work or providing specialist advice and support, through to developing national projects to promote tax compliance, identify and prevent errors.
Do you have the appropriate professional qualification? And/or membership? Together with broad experience in complex international work or deep specialist knowledge in one or more of the direct tax international regimes such as Transfer Pricing and Diverted Profits Tax, or international tax structuring involving cross border transactions (including finance) and structures.
If you have gained this experience in practice or in industry, you should enjoy working as part of a team with the confidence to collaborate to drive risk working and settle enquiry cases.
Essential Criteria
• Experience of working with large businesses on their International Tax affairs.
Qualifications
You should hold one of the following qualifications
• Chartered Institute of Tax (CTA) or Management Accountants (CIMA);
• Advanced Diploma in International Tax (ADIT);
• Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies membership qualification (such as ICAEW, ICAS, CAI, ACCA, CIPFA) or overseas equivalent;
• Postgraduate legal qualification.
HMRC are an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
