Brescia is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill a position as:

International Recruitment Specialist

 (Permanent Full Time Position)
Rate – $32.66 per hour

The International Recruitment Specialist reports to the Director of Recruitment and Admissions and supports Brescia’s international recruitment strategy by engaging in student recruitment activities, exploring and developing new international markets, managing agent and partner relationships, and supporting conversion and incoming student transition. This role engages in extensive international and domestic travel to ensure Brescia’s international recruitment goals and outcomes are met. The incumbent has a direct impact on the university’s success, reputation, and successful implementation of enrolment targets.


Student Recruitment

  • Participate in the development and execution of Brescia’s international recruitment strategy.
  • Develop and implement a schedule of international recruitment activities.
  • Organize and attend a range of international (and domestic where required) student recruitment activities and events including exhibitions, fairs, school visits, networking events and meetings.
  • Develop and deliver presentations for a variety of audiences including prospective students, families, and guidance counsellors.
  • Create and participate in virtual events.
  • Provide advising on admissions requirements, academic programs, and school life.
  • Design and develop international recruitment promotional materials including market specific print and digital resources.
  • Participate in the planning of Brescia’s international social media
  • Support the development and assessment of the international student communications strategy.
  • Develop systems to ensure that inquires from prospective students are answered in a timely and personalized manner.
  • Correspond with prospective students, families, guidance counsellors, and teachers through email, telephone, in-person meetings, and virtual appointments.
  • Liaise with government and education officials in Canada and abroad, including Canadian Education Trade Commissioners and Canadian consulates and embassies, working collaboratively with other Canadian Universities in efforts to brand Canada and attract top students.
  • Liaise with local organizations (immigration services and school boards).
  • Brief and debrief faculty members and other university representatives who undertake international student recruitment activities.
  • Collaborate with Alumnae Relations to develop, manage, and assess the international Alumnae Ambassador Program.
  • Track recruitment activities for reach and
  • Work with colleagues to ensure information is recorded and updated in relevant databases and the customer relationship management system.

Market Development:

  • Lead in the exploration and development of new markets and educational institution partnerships.
  • Develop new and existing relationships with agencies, organizations, and other partners.
  • Build on opportunities to connect with  prospective students and stakeholders outside of the traditional recruitment
  • Regularly report and provide feedback on industry and market trends, as well as event and partnership quality.

Agent and Partner Relationships:

  • Maintain contacts and build relationships with a variety of new and existing contacts (i.e. agents, language schools, high schools and universities) worldwide.
  • Provide training and updated materials to agents and partners throughout the recruiting cycle.
  • Manage the agent database.
  • Monitor, manage, and approve commission payments to recruitment agencies.
  • Oversee and provide direction to the recruitment activities of various partners (i.e. GROKChina and M Square Media).
  • Foster relationships with international alumnae.

Student Conversion & Transition:

  • Develop and implement international student conversion strategies.
  • Plan and participate in conversion activities.
  • Support incoming student transition, including course selection, and summer registration

Other Duties

  • Represent Brescia on internal and external committees as required.
  • Assist with some administrative duties of the Recruitment & Admissions Team as
  • Review activities to ensure alignment with recruitment and conversion strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

 Requirements of the role include:

  • University degree or suitable equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience in post-secondary student recruitment or admissions.
  • Valid “G” driver’s license and passport.
  • Willingness to travel to both domestic and international locations.
  • Experience and understanding of the diverse needs of post-secondary students with a focus on what engages and appeals to students.
  • Experience demonstrating superb intercultural competency in workplace settings.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and ability to interact positively with prospective students, parents, guidance counselors, institution partners, and the general public in a variety of settings.
  • Strong professional writing, public speaking, and presentation development skills.
  • Excellent project management, time management, and planning capabilities to prioritize multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines with a diverse workload.
  • Excellent customer service, sales, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a team environment, while exercising good judgment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook, and experience with Abode Creative Suite.
  • Experience with data collection, data analysis, and working with databases or Customer Service Management tools. Experience working with Peoplesoft and Salesforce is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply creativity, innovation, and resourcefulness to daily work.
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events and activities.
