We are seeking an Internal Communications Specialist to join our Communications Team.  Reporting to the Leader, Communications, the successful candidate will develop and implement communications strategies and tactics to drive awareness, business performance, organizational culture, employee engagement and leader effectiveness.

In this highly visible and collaborative role, you will work closely with:

  • External Communications and Communications Services to develop an integrated & holistic content strategy with editorial objectives and annual calendar
  • Regional Public Affairs and site leadership to drive regional employee engagement with a focus on connecting to our front-line workers
  • Digital Communications to develop innovative and engaging channels to connect employees
  • Senior leadership as a trusted communications advisor and coach

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Drive communications strategies and messaging to engage employees and support business objectives.
  • Keep performance visible and understandable for all employees by developing internal messaging and communications plans to help drive business results and advance strategic priorities.
  • Leverage knowledge of key stakeholders to build channel-appropriate communications strategies.
  • Serve as the lead for transformational change initiatives and executes support against a tiered service model.
  • Foster relationships across the organization to develop internal messaging and communication plans to help drive results and advance strategic priorities and initiatives.
  • Participate in or lead cross-functional teams or projects leveraging communications expertise.
  • Analyze employee feedback mechanisms and interprets data to recommend improvements and best practices.

What We Are Looking For:

  • University graduate with 8+ years related experience and continued professional development or 12+ years combination of post-secondary education and related experience and continued professional development.
  • Ability to understand vision and strategy at the company and business level.
  • Ability to drive innovative internal communication strategies that engage employees across multiple platforms (intranet, video, digital monitors and newsletters, events, presentations, etc.).
  • Experience with email communications and measurement systems, intranet platforms, content management systems, and other technologies designed to support internal communication strategies.
  • Experience working with senior leadership and executives to provide communication counsel and act as trusted resource.
  • Ability to oversee and execute multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively under the pressure of last-minute deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work with confidential materials and build trust among key stakeholders.
  • Proactive and takes initiative. Functions effectively, both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Must be results and outcome driven.
  • Skilled at effectively responding to changing priorities and demands.
  • Ability to recognize and break down barriers to collaboration and reach agreement or consensus on a course of action with others inside the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and work well with others in cross-functional groups.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including writing and editing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.

Additional Information:

  • Preferred location is our United States Commercial Center in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
  • Our NOVA Head Office in Calgary, Alberta or our Manufacturing East Corporate Center in Sarnia, Ontario will also be considered.
  • Cross border / international moves involving immigration will not be considered for this role.
