Full-Time Interim Orchestra Personnel Manager

Based in London at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, the Philharmonia creates thrilling performances for a global audience. Through its network of residencies, the Orchestra has a national footprint, serving communities across England both in performance and through its extensive outreach and engagement programme.

We are looking to appoint an Interim Orchestra Personnel Manager to join our busy Concerts team, for a fixed term of 6 months starting in January 2022. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your experience to work with a world-class orchestra, fulfilling a key role within the heart of the organisation, with travel across the UK and internationally. With support from the Assistant Orchestra Personnel Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that a full roster of orchestral personnel is present at all calls, according to the requirements of the Orchestra’s schedule. You will attend rehearsals and concerts, both in the UK and on tour abroad, as well as recording sessions and film sessions, acting as the primary point of contact for orchestra personnel. International travel will be required as part of the role, with tours currently planned (subject to COVID travel restrictions allowing the tours to take place) to The Netherlands, Belgium, Japan, Spain, Germany & Greece.

Amongst the qualities you will need to possess are:

• A minimum of two years’ experience in a comparable professional role within the classical music field.
• Meticulous attention to detail and first-class organisational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to prioritise and to manage own time
• IT literacy (the postholder will be required thoroughly to familiarise him/herself with the
• Orchestra’s bespoke online system).
• A team player with a knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, orchestral classical music.
• Willingness to work unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends.

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000
