JOB FAMILY DESCRIPTION
The Instructional Designer III is responsible for instructional design, development, maintenance and technical production of task/job based client training on Black Knight products/solutions. Uses state of the art tools, technologies, and methodologies to create standard and custom training programs in multiple modalities, including traditional instructor-led courses, virtual (webinar) courses (synchronous and asynchronous distance learning), self-paced course materials, multi-media e-learning courses, and training kits that support the client’s end user programs.

This position is remote / telecommute eligible. If located in Philadelphia, PA, Jacksonville, FL or St. Louis, MO, some onsite will be required.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Conducts and analyzes training needs assessments following conventional instructional design methodologies.
* Interviews business owners, business analysts, system developers, and other functional and technical personnel as part of the needs assessment.
* Develops a solid understanding of Black Knight products to complete task analysis and determine training requirements.
* Determines and documents the appropriate instructional strategy and project scope based on a completed needs assessment.
* Reviews and accurately interprets technical documentation including use case scenarios, functional specifications, system specifications, and technical specifications as they pertain to course development.
* Designs effective instructional materials, interactions, simulations and assessments to support the required instructional strategy.
* Interacts with product managers, subject-matter experts, application development teams, business analysts, management, and others as needed to determine the scope of a project and to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of training programs.
* Uses state of the art tools and technologies for the development, maintenance, production, and distribution of multi-media training materials/web-based training content.
* Follows best practices in technical development to ensure a consistent development process.
* Follows best practices in project management to develop and track project schedules using a consistent project management methodology.
* Creates technical specifications for projects using approved templates and processes.
* Writes, executes, and analyzes usability studies and test plans related to course materials, e-learning strategies, and learning management systems/client training portals.
* Designs and develops criterion-based training assessments.
* Assesses feedback from learners to evaluate and improve effectiveness of training.
* Responsible for management, coordination, and troubleshooting of all aspects of client learning management systems/client training portals, and training related websites (i.e.; intranet, extranet), including communication with internal and external users.
* Markets training courses and services to clients.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL GUIDELINES
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience. Degrees may include Instructional Design, Instructional Technologies, Education, Human Performance Technology, Journalism, Technical Writing, Web Design and Development, or other related degree. Certification programs may include CPLP or other Instructional Systems Design programs.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
* Working experience developing learning solutions for new products
* Experience with Agile development and processes required
* Experience with help and authoring tools required; MadCap Flare preferred
* Thorough knowledge of instructional design principles and methodology
* Understanding of adult education concepts
* Familiarity with the basic concepts of user experience design
* Familiarity with micro-learning and rapid-design strategies
* Working experience usingeLearning andmulti-media development tools required:
– Captivate
– Audio applications, such as Audition, Audacity, or Soundbooth
– Video editing tools, such as Premier Pro, MovieMaker
– Graphic design tools, such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Snag It
* Working experience using eLearning and multi-media development tools including web or mobile design tools such as Adobe XD or Acrobat DC, Storyline preferred
* Experience supporting software/application release documentation, preferred
* Prior Mortgage or Home Equity Originations or Servicing experience, preferred
* Experience working with Mortgage Originations or Operations or Home Equity industry business process owners preferred
* Experience with TFS preferred
* Knowledge of information design and mapping concepts
* Research and analysis skills; analytical, problem solving skills
* Written and verbal communication skills, including editing course content for correct punctuation, syntax, and grammar
* Creativity and an aptitude for graphic and visual design appropriate to the business environment and training audience
* Proficient with authoring, design, and development tools and technology, as well as programming languages and applications related to training development
* Ability to objectively evaluate course content /feedback, and to make improvements based on results
* Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with employees and clients, including negotiation skills
* Team skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization, internally and externally
* Flexibility, versatility, dependability

Instructional Designer III
Advanced professional role. Highly skilled with extensive proficiency. As a designated lead for a suite of products, develops effective relationships with product managers and development teams to stay informed of product development strategies across multiple products to identify activities that impact training. Manages concurrent multiple projects for multiple product areas (5 plus). Manages and completes custom training development projects. Provides project status reports to training department management and stakeholders. As a member of a team, supports all aspects of client learning management systems/client training portals, and training related websites (i.e.; intranet, extranet); supports all aspects of client learning management system implementation projects for other business units. High level of skill using development tools and technologies; may act as a mentor to less experienced peers. Works under min imal supervision on complex projects and may assist less experienced peers. Is an active team member; understands corporate direction and works to support it. Shares ideas, suggests process improvements, contributes to development of department standards and workflows, and researches and reports on new trends and technologies. Wide latitude for independent judgment. Typically requires seven (7) or more years of experience in instructional design, course development, technical communications, or a related field.
