Position Summary
- Lead the talent acquisition process by working closely with hiring managers to determine the unit’s needs and develop/update job descriptions. Create job postings, conduct initial screenings, and manage the interview process. Ensure hiring managers are properly trained and supported in making objective, job-relevant hiring decisions.
- Administer job offers and background checks. Collect and ensure completion of all required new hire paperwork. Create and maintain employee personnel files.
- Manage the onboarding process for all new hires, ensuring a welcoming and robust process involving key staff and stakeholders so that new hires are set up for success.
- Complete bi-weekly payrolls, ensuring accuracy of pay, deductions, benefits, and reporting. Manage the HRIS/payroll system including all employment, pay, and benefit changes. Work collaboratively with HRIS support, employees, and third-party vendors to resolve any issues that occur.
- In partnership with the Director, administer performance management processes, to include coordinating accurate and timely completion of quarterly and annual reviews, assist in counseling on performance concerns, and advise on career paths/development opportunities.
- Administer benefits programs including, but not limited to, healthcare/dental/vision, retirement, disability, and paid/unpaid time off. Collaborate with broker to advise on plan changes and manage annual open enrollment. Act as a liaison between employees and benefit providers. Assists in resolutions of benefits-related problems and ensures effective use of plans.
- Assists the Director in developing, planning, and executing professional development opportunities for staff including, but not limited to, Predictive Index, leadership training, lunch and learn series, and competency-based career development.
- Serve as the primary contact for unemployment and worker’s compensation claims. Provide relevant information and submit responses in a timely manner. Work closely with Legal, Risk, and Compliance on liability issues.
- Coach and counsel employees regarding employee concerns, partnering with the HR Director when appropriate.
- Coordinate separation processes to ensure compliance with State and Federal requirements including COBRA, exit interviews, benefit transition(s), and final pay.
- HR Intern
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Payroll/HRIS systems.
- Working knowledge of general human resource functions and procedures, including but not limited to federal and state labor laws and benefits administration.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information, interpersonal issues, and employee concerns.
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational and communication skills.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent required (or a combination of education and experience that yields the required knowledge, skills, and abilities); Bachelor’s in Human Resources (or a related field) preferred.
- 1 – 3 years of general human resources experience required.
- SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
- Required to work on site 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday
