Human Resources Consultant (Generalist)

Permanent Position

Corporate Office

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources and working collaboratively with a team of human resources functional experts and departmental administrators, this human resources generalist role will provide direct service and HR solutions to our departmental partners including:

  • Recruitment and succession planning;
  • Labour relations including collective agreement interpretation, issues management, attendance management;
  • Job evaluation and salary administration;
  • Development and administration of Human Resources Management systems;
  • Organizational effectiveness including training and development, orientation and onboarding, employee engagement, performance management, strategic initiatives;
  • Policy and/or process review and revision as required to mitigate human resource challenges;
  • Committee participation.

As a key colleague to the HR Consultant Recruitment and Labour Relations, and the HR Consultant Compensation, this role will execute initiatives to attract, retain and engage employees at all levels of the organization, and foster a positive environment working closely with management, staff and union representatives.

For consideration as a potential candidate, the individual should possess the following qualifications:

  • University Degree in Commerce or Business Administration, with a concentration in Human Resources;
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in managing human resources services and programs in a unionized environment;
  • Ability to analyze, problem solve and make sound decisions and recommendations;
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships with management, staff and union representatives;
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Proficient computer skills with business software and Human Resources management applications including advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
  • Current member in good standing with the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR-NL) with CPHR or CHRL designation (actively working towards obtaining designation will be considered an asset);
  • Master’s degree in Business or Employment Relations will be considered an asset.

Salary:                          HL 19 – $62,228 – $80,896 annually
