Full-Time HR Consultant – Compensation & Analytics

Job Description

As a member of the Human Resources team reporting to the Director, Human Resources, key responsibilities of the incumbent include:

  • Manage and lead utilization, maintenance and administration of the Human Resources Management systems in keeping with the strategic direction of the organization through ongoing analysis and evaluation;
  • Support the achievement of corporate and business unit strategy through the development and evaluation of analytics to measure organizational performance;
  • Identify, develop and analyze HR and corporate metrics in collaboration with other business units by leveraging various reporting tools, dashboards, and scorecards;
  • Provide effective management, leadership, expert advice, customer service, support and direction throughout the Corporation regarding complex matters of payroll and compensation and ensures compliance and consistency of application of policies and procedures;
  • Oversee activities of Payroll Officer who is responsible for the effective and efficient planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating of all activities involving the Corporation’s payroll;
  • Manage and coordinate organization job evaluation activities to maintain equity in the classification and ratings of bargaining unit, management support and management positions;
  • Develop policies, procedures and guidelines regarding the Human Resources systems, payroll, compensation, classification and rewards and recognition programs and provide guidance and support;
  • Administer leave management program and manage the rewards and recognition program by ensuring consistency with the Corporation’s policies, procedures, mission, vision and values;
  • Oversee Benefits Administrator who is accountable for the administration of a comprehensive benefit program including rewards and recognition

For consideration as a potential candidate, the individual should possess the following qualifications:

  • University Degree in Commerce or Business Administration, with a concentration in Human Resources;
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience with payroll systems, preferably in a unionized environment;
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in an analytics, strategic planning, or related function specifically with Human Resources data systems, HR metrics and reporting;
  • Sound knowledge of compensation practices and principles;
  • Ability to analyze, problem solve and make sound decisions and recommendations in order to advance workplace programs, identify trends and recommend opportunities for improvement;
  • Proficient computer skills with business software and Human Resources management applications including business intelligence and advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, statistical functions);
  • High level of professional knowledge in the payroll management field, including awareness of the latest payroll techniques, procedures and technology an asset;
  • Canadian Payroll Manager (CPM) designation from the Canadian Payroll Association an asset.

Salary:                          HL 20 – $64,693 – $84,101 annually
