Full-Time Housing Navigator at Men’s Transitional Housing

Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Housing Navigator is a type of Case Manager who maintains a caseload of individual program participants experiencing homelessness, many of whom have multiple barriers (i.e. serious mental illness, substance use disorders, chronic health conditions, frequent contact with law enforcement, etc.). The Housing Navigator engages and develops relationships with participants and provides trauma-informed support services so that secure, stable, and permanent housing may be achieved. This is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Providing fifty-fife (55) units of transitional housing and emergency shelter for male-identifying individuals experiencing homelessness at our Compass Center building, the Pioneer Square Men’s Program has been a stop for many on their way out of homelessness and into permanent housing. The program offers case management and resources to help participants find stability and overcome barriers to housing.

LOCATION: Pioneer Square Neighborhood (Seattle, WA)
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Sunday-Thursday 2-10:30pm; with monthly staff meetings 2nd Wednesday 8am-10am
SALARY RANGE: $21.21 per hour (Level 1)

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree is desired in social work, human services, psychology, or related field. Or relevant work experience, certificate and/or equivalent continuing professional development or education.
• A minimum of 1-year experience in case management, desired.
• A minimum of 2-years’ experience in a social/human service setting related to housing and homelessness, required.
• Awareness and/or training around issues of equity, intersectionality, and belonging.
• Current WA State Food Handlers Permit, desired (If not current, will be sponsored within 1-month of hire).
• Familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, required.
• Valid WA driver’s license, proof of car insurance, and a driving record that meets Compass standards, desired.
