We are inviting applications for Hourly Paid Lecturers to deliver teaching on our Community Learning courses.

Oxfordshire Adult Learning is a large, award winning faculty of Abingdon and Witney College. We aim to maximise access to learning for adults in Oxfordshire, widening participation and transforming the health, social and economic wellbeing of individuals, families and their communities.

Our provision is diverse and includes an extensive range of leisure learning courses, community learning, family learning and accredited courses which lead to recognised qualifications.  Our courses are delivered at our College campuses in Abingdon and Witney, as well as in community venues such as village halls and within local schools across Oxfordshire.

The successful candidate will have a heart for adult community learning, be skilled in adapting teaching approaches to meet the needs of those furthest away from education or employment, and confident in delivering a wide variety of confidence building and employability subjects.

You do not have to be a qualified teacher. The College offers tutors new to teaching a comprehensive staff development programme to support their journey in their role. Opportunities also exist to gain a recognised teaching qualification.

Tutors are responsible for planning courses, delivering inspiring lessons, keeping records of their learners’ progress and participating in development activities to enhance their own teaching, learning and assessment skills. Our tutors relish seeing their learners gain confidence in a new discipline or rekindle the enjoyment of a past hobby. Join our team, share your skills and experience, and inspire others through the joy of learning.

Although a teaching qualification is an advantage, training opportunities exist within the College and we can support you in gaining your Award in Education and Training Level 3 Qualification (AET), within your first year of joining the college.

In return, Abingdon & Witney College offer excellent benefits to our employees including generous pension and holiday schemes (with potential Christmas closure days), continued professional development, flexible working options, corporate gym membership, cycle/tech scheme and much more.

Closing date: 5th April 2023 (midnight)

Interview date: 20th & 24th April 2023

No candidate will meet every single desired qualification / criteria. If your experience looks a little different from what we’ve identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you!

AWC values diversity and encourages applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to safeguarding and expect all our employees and volunteers to share this commitment. We are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all appointments are subject to satisfactory clearances including enhanced DBS checks.
