Full-Time Home Care Specialist supporting Multiple Locations

ABOUT THE POSITION:  The Home Care Specialist is a limited term, grant funded position (anticipated to last for at least one-year). The position works as part of the site team to enhance housing stability and quality of life for some of our most vulnerable residents. In this role, the Specialist will observe, create recommendations, and develop action plans. They will actively participate in tasks to correct concerning, unhealthy, or high-risk living conditions including housekeeping concerns, health/hygiene, and nutrition concerns. This is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).

**Effective 12/6/2021, all new hires are required as a pre-condition of employment to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to their start date.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: In a period of rising rents and high cost of living, our permanent supportive housing properties provide affordable housing for income-eligible individuals and families. Among our properties, we offer independent living for seniors, supportive housing for individuals formerly unhoused, and affordable apartments for those experiencing housing instability. This position will be offering support services at the following Compass locations: Broadview, Cascade, Dekko, and Dexter.

LOCATION: Office in South Lake Union Neighborhood (Seattle, WA)

*Please note, this position will rotate as needed between several buildings throughout Downtown and North Seattle averaging 8-hours of support at each of the four sites

REPORTS TO: Program Manager


SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 9:30am-6pm with staff meetings

SALARY RANGE: $23.69 per hour


  • Work experience is a key factor for success in this role. In addition, success in this role requires a passion for knowledge and drive for continuing professional development or education. An Associate degree in human services, social work or related field would be a compliment to the required experience.
  • A minimum of 1-year experience working in a customer service environment or high-volume public contact position, required.
  • A minimum of 1-year experience working or volunteering in social or human services organization, strongly desired.
  • 1-year experience in providing care to the vulnerable populations, including seniors, mental and behavioral health clients, desired.
  • Work experience as a home health aide, nursing/psychiatric aide, orderly, chore service, social service assistant or janitorial role, desired.
  • Awareness and/or training around issues of equity, intersectionality, and belonging.
  • Current WA State Food Handlers Permit, desired (If not current, will be sponsored within 1-month of hire).
  • Familiarity with topics of housing instability, mental health, substance use, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, required.
