Temporary Home Care Specialist at Affordable Housing

Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Home Care Specialist position is a limited term, grant funded position. The position works as part of the site team, to enhance housing stability and quality of life for some of the most vulnerable residents.  In this role, one will observe, create recommendations and action plans, and actively participate in tasks to correct poor, unhealthy or high-risk living conditions including housekeeping concerns, health/hygiene and nutrition concerns. T his is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:  Operating on a “housing first” model, Nyer Urness House provides 80 units of permanent housing to formerly homeless adults. Supportive services include case management, a medical clinic operated by Neighborcare Health on-site, daily meals and other community building resources. The community is named for the Rev. Nyer Urness, whose philosophy of ‘meeting people where they are’ is a fundamental principle of the work at Nyer Urness House.

LOCATION: Ballard Neighborhood in Seattle, WA

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SCHEDULE: Tuesday-Friday 9am-5:30pm with monthly staff meetings first Wednesday 9am-12pm

SALARY RANGE: $19.32 or $20.89 (MSW or clinical graduate degree) per hour

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, required.
  • Certified Home Care Aide, desired.
  • 1-year experience in providing care to the vulnerable populations, including seniors, mental and behavioral health clients, desired.
  • Familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, chemical dependency, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, desired.
  • Experience working with clients with English as a second language or where there is limited English speaking ability, desired.
