Full-Time Head of Programme Operations

We are hiring an experienced professional who loves a plan, a deadline and isn’t afraid to dive into the detail. They will work closely with our Programme Director as the beating heart of the operations, ensuring smooth delivery and a great experience for our young people.

 

Job requirements:

 

Culture & ethos

  • Model and support the ethos and culture of the organisation
  • Contribute to the value-driven ethos of the organisation

Operations

  • Manage a budget, risk reporting and mitigation for delivery of our youth programmes.
  • Lead on the day-to-day operational requirements of our programmes, including coordinating events with schools, retreats and our internal team
  • Use systems and processes to ensure a safe container for both staff and young people

 

Health and Safety, Risk

  • Lead on policy implementation, health & safety and compliance, to ensure our programmes are always delivered safely
  • Work with subject knowledge experts to ensure policies and processes are fit for use, updated regularly and used in day-to-day operations

Physical Spaces

  • Collaborate with our sister organisation, Bertha Foundation, and the Operations Director around all physical spaces we use for programme delivery
  • Lead on contractual agreements and risk assessments for physical space hire and use

Safeguarding

  • Supporting organisational responsibility for safeguarding and planning for safe programmes

 

Dependant on prior experience, training will be offered to support the successful candidate to assume the role of Deputy Safeguarding Officer for the organisation

 

This is a Head of Department level role, with remuneration between £45,000 and £55,000 pro-rata based on experience. A 5% London weighting is included within this bracket as the role must be based in London.

 

This role is a full-time role, equating to 5 days/week. This role will be line managed by the Programme Director, and will have a probationary period of 3 months.

Additional requirements

  • Subject to an enhanced DBS check with Bertha Earth. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
  • We require two references, one from your current or most recent employer and another (if you have worked with young people that must be included)
  • Strong reliable wifi connection whilst working from home
  • You will be required to agree to and sign our code of conduct
  • You must have the right to work in the UK

 

This role is based in our London office, and is eligible for hybrid working from home when appropriate. There is the expectation there will be touchpoints with the team required throughout the year that will have to be attended in person outside of London.

 

Frequent travel to our retreat locations and partner venues and schools may be necessary. The venues are currently in Monmouth, Hereford and Frome. Partner schools in 2021 are based in London. All reasonable travel expenses and accommodation for overnight stays necessary to perform this role will be reimbursed.
