Full-Time Head of Data Science

C. Light Technologies, Inc. – Posted by csheehy Boston, Massachusetts, United States

Job Description

Position:      Head of Data Science

Location:       Headquarters – Greater Boston, MA

Hire Date:     June 1, 2021

Job Description

C. Light Technologies is an impact & mission driven start-up company working to solve one of the world’s biggest problems affecting our loved ones: neurodegeneration. Created by founders that have been personally impacted by families with neurological disease, we are passionate in creating a non-invasive approach for neurological disease monitoring and therapeutic development/efficacy testing. We are searching for fellow trailblazers that share the same passion and drive that we do to change the world together, starting with multiple sclerosis.

C. Light has created a novel retinal eye-tracking device, capable of recording the involuntary motion of the eye during fixation. These micron-level movements can be as small as 1/100th the size of a human hair. Our 10-second, high-resolution videos of the eye generate 4,800 new data points that we can use to determine neurodegenerative levels.

The ideal data science team member will be responsible for transitioning our time-series data into accurate disease prediction and pattern detection models of neurodegeneration. The goal is to develop data science advancements and apply these to support our mission to solve the world’s most complex brain health challenges.

More specifically, you will be…

  • Responsible for performing complex analyses on our time-series eye motion data, including optimization, machine learning, computer vision, and statistical analyses, parametric and nonparametric statistical models and techniques.
  • Managing various data management processes to support our neurotechnology medical device development for Alzheimers, TBI, MS, Parkinson’s and ALS.
  • Responsible for communicating the analytical approach, model performance, and results to the team, investors, and customers.

What are we looking for?

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics or a related technical field, or the equivalent practical experience in computer science or closely related field
  • 5+ years previous experience (internships and academic work included) working with complex datasets – specifically time series data – and building statistical, machine learning, or deep learning models
  • Successful experience leading data science development independently
  • Proficient using pytorch and/or tensor flow
  • Experienced in managing data and teams in AWS environment

Nice to have:

  • Master’s/PhD in computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics or a related technical field
  • Experienced in model development for medical devices/healthcare that are going into/through the FDA approval process

C.  Light’s core company values:

Care reimagined for those individuals living with a neurodegenerative disease and one another.

Leadership to drive innovation on the novel technologies that we create to solve the world’s most complex neuro challenges.

Integrity to bring honesty, respect, and transparency to our product, our team, and our customer interactions.

Growth to empower individual and team learning as we propel our solutions to the masses.

Humility to allow ourselves to give, seek, and receive feedback respectfully and to own our own improvements.

Teamwork to foster a collaborative spirit with ourselves and our customers by bringing together our passions and expertise.

C. Light Technologies is an equal opportunity employer. We are fully dedicated to hiring the most qualified candidate regardless of race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation and pregnancy), marital status, national origin, age, veteran status, disability, genetic information or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
