Freelance Freelance Biology Education Content Reviewer

Job Description

We are an online learning platform that produces online and print education materials for GCSE and A-Level Maths and Sciences.

This position requires reviewing and editing GCSE Biology content which will be used to make educational videos.

Specifically, this role involves ensuring content on PowerPoint slides meet the following criteria:

  • Is scientifically correct
  • Is relevant to GCSE specifications
  • Is accessible to students aged 13-16
  • Anticipates student misconceptions
  • Follows style guidelines
  • Follows equality, diversity and inclusion guidelines

Where this is not the case, you will edit content to correct or improve it. Where necessary, you will liaise with content writers and project managers about questions or concerns.

We will provide you with the necessary software for this position.

Location, Hours, and Project Length:

This role will be between 8-16 hours per week per project and is a completely remote role with flexible hours. The current project will last until at least January with possibility to extend.

Pay:

This is a freelance contractor position and the hourly rate will be between £14-£20 per hour dependent on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Science Degree – essential
  • Biology Degree – desirable
  • PGCE / PGDE / Qualified Teacher Status – desirable

Experience:

  • Either teaching/tutoring experience in GCSE Biology
  • OR knowledge of GCSE qualifications from science education editing/writing
  • Experience with tasks that require attention to detail over extended periods of time
  • Experience with UK exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, or OCR) desirable

Interview:

If your application is successful, you will be invited to a first-round 15-minute phone interview. These will begin around the week beginning Monday 25th October. Successful candidates will then be invited to a second-round Zoom interview and trial task later on around the week beginning Monday 1st November. In the event of multiple suitable candidates, a third interview may be required. All rounds of interviews will take place Monday to Friday between 10 am and 6 pm.

Ideally, this role would begin in November, however, we can be flexible for the right candidate.
