Full-Time Foundation Relations Officer (Remote)

Job Description



In collaboration with the Vice President of Development, the Foundation Relations Officer will manage a portfolio of philanthropic organizations and engage in strategy development, prospect cultivation, solicitation through grant writing, and stewardship of these organizations. The Officer will focus on growing the prospect pipeline through research, and create funding opportunities and strategies for solicitation in conjunction with other Development team members. The Officer will also collaborate with other departments to develop and write grant proposals as well as steward funds related to grant guidelines.

  • Build and Grow Foundation Prospect Pipeline: Identify, research, and grow institutional foundation prospects and develop compelling engagement strategies to solicit. 
  • Grant writing to secure foundation gifts: Lead solicitation strategy and write grant proposals, in collaboration with the Development team and other departments.
  • Stewardship of current portfolio: Manage and steward portfolio of institutional funders, with the goal of securing renewed gifts. 
  • Report and Database Management: Prepare written proposals, gift agreements in collaboration with NGA’s Finance team, donor collateral, and other materials needed to define, secure and document major gifts.
  • Effectively utilize donor prospecting and CRM tools to maintain records of contacts with donors and prospects; conduct donor research to target appropriate solicitation levels; and track, evaluate and present relevant information. 
  • Travel: Conduct personal visits with major donors and prospects for the purpose of field research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, on an as needed basis. 
  • Additional duties, as assigned 



  • 2-4 years of experience in development, grant writing, or foundation relations positions, with demonstrated success at political or non-profit organizations.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills.
  • Proven track record of securing grants of six+ figures. 
  • Ability to establish, cultivate and steward strong professional relationships with stakeholders to build lifelong partnerships and trust.
  • Innovative, self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects well, working both independently and as a team member.
  • Collaborative problem solver with a can-do attitude and ability to foster a cooperative, team-oriented work environment.
  • Strong organizational, strategic, and analytical skills, ability to manage and prioritize numerous projects while clearly measuring performance and meeting goals and deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, do-it-yourself, start-up environment and calmly switch gears when priorities/objectives change.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working remotely in a highly collaborative distributed workforce setting.
  • Commitment to representing NGA with enthusiasm, warmth, and professionalism.



Salary range for this position is $67,000-$72,000, compensation will be based on experience. NextGen America also offers a very comprehensive benefits package.


In-person meetings and travel are an essential part of this position.
