About this role
Supporting our global Operations Team, the Finance Analyst maintains correct and compliant records for Access Now’s financial transactions, according to US-based Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and works to continually improve internal financial controls across the organization. The role functions in a highly-detailed and fast-paced environment, using sound initiative at all times.

This position reports through the Director – Finance (Global) and aligns with the Financial Controller. The Finance Analyst works closely with the Operations Team in the fiscal management of the organization.

What you will do
• Receive all ARM budgets, and perform preliminary review of key areas
• Process and input Organization budgets into the accounting system
• Provide professional level, project management analysis by:
o Tracking documents for organizational, project-level, and internal control audits – and other reviews for the Finance team with guidance from the Financial Controller and/or Finance Director
o Assisting with grant financial reporting and ad hoc reporting as needed
o Assisting on research minor-scope work related to banking and foreign currency transactions
o Assisting on new software implementation as needed
o Assisting with grant allocations in accounting systems
o Assisting on budget preparation as required
o Assisting with projects across procurement and fixed assets registers
o Assisting on analysis assigned by Financial Controller and/or Finance Director
• Support Financial Controller with monthly, quarterly and yearly financial closing
• Support Financial Controller with board meeting analysis, and with reports preparation
• Review all entries previously recorded in the accounting software
• Assist with streamlining Sales Force information into accounting systems
• Assist in global implementation of the annual RightsCon summit series
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills, education, and mindset you will bring
• Demonstrated professional-level work experience in accounting/bookkeeping roles
• Intermediate skill level in MS Excel (data filter, sort, basic formulas, V lookups, etc)
• Knowledge and use of Fund EZ accounting software (or similar accounting software)
• Ability to work with a team and work independently
• Strong written and verbal office communication skills, with ability to work across global teams, both financial and non-financial in role
• Exceptional attention to detail, with caution and capability to account for all transactions
• Strong ability to prioritize, plan, organize, execute, and bring tasks to completion
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment across competing priorities and deadlines
• Adaptability, accuracy and independence
• Prior experience in virtual working environment and/or not-for-profit/NGO organization
• Experience with and proficiency in G Suite, including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and Docs

The Details

This is a full-time position. While applicants in Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, and Germany are considered, individuals in the United States (New York, Washington, DC, primarily) will be most competitive. The successful candidate must possess the right to work in the location in which they will be based. At this time most Access Now Team Members are working through hybrid office arrangements, combining remote at-home work with intermittent use of offices and/or co-working spaces.

Access Now offers competitive compensation and benefits packages that align competitively with locations and regions around the world. Location-specific examples of initial placement within the salary range for this role include:
• €4,500 EUR gross monthly (Belgium)
• $4,200 CAD gross monthly (Canada)
• $3,750 USD gross monthly (Costa Rica)
• €5,275 EUR gross monthly (Germany)
• $5,240 USD gross monthly (United States)
