Position Overview:

The Facilities Technician is responsible for providing building facility maintenance support for The Tech Interactive and our business office. Primary emphasis is on delivering facility services in a professional, competent, timely and courteous fashion, while ensuring safety and security of guests, fellow staff, contractors and volunteers. The Facilities Technician is a full time, non-exempt (hourly) position reporting to the Facilities Foreman.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform general preventative facilities maintenance and repairs as assigned including changing lights and painting.
  • Track lighting and other facilities supply inventories.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as directed.
  • Perform occasional loading dock and warehouse functions including forklift operation, loading and unloading of equipment and supplies and other delivery functions.
  • Coordinate and perform facilities functions with custodial, security and specialty contractors as needed.
  • Provide facilities support for institutional and evening events as required.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and HVAC problems and perform light electrical work.
  • Respond to safety and emergency situations and maintain a safe and secure work environment.
  • Assist with office space relocations and changes that involve the moving and reconfiguring of cubicles, desks and cabinets.
  • Maintain excellent working and collaborative relationships with colleagues and other departments to successfully complete each assigned project.
  • Operate company truck as needed to pick up supplies.
  • Safely operate scissor list when required in performing maintenance duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Key Qualifications:

  • Experience in facilities maintenance including plumbing, electrical, painting and minor construction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Trained in the operation of a forklift desired.
  • Trained in operation of scissor lifts desired.
  • General knowledge of tools, hardware and building materials pertaining to building maintenance and upkeep.
  • Available for a flexible schedule including some weekends and some evenings as required by projects and maintenance schedules.
  • Customer-service oriented, dependable and flexible.
  • Computer skills a plus.
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid California Driver’s License with positive driving record.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly.
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy and/or awkward objects, climb ladders and reach overhead.

Salary Range: $27 – $30 per hour
