Job Description

Family and Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County (FCSGW) is a 24/7 operating agency that provides services for children, youth, and families across three sites in the community. As one of 51 Children’s Aid Societies in Ontario, they are comprised of a caring network of staff, volunteers, foster families and adopting families who look out for the well-being of the children, youth and families who live in the City of Guelph and the County of Wellington County. FCSGW’s clinical support team provides in-home support services, parenting groups, and when children and youth are no longer able to safely stay in their homes, they provide fostering and adoption services. They now seek a collaborative Executive Director who will drive the continued success of the agency in serving the community of Guelph and Wellington County.


Reporting to a 16-member Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the total operation of FCSGW including service delivery, financial stewardship, community relations, human resource management, funder relations, and strategic planning. With a current budget of approximately $21.6 million, the incumbent will manage a diverse leadership team of 7 and over 130 full and part-time employees. They will embody and embed the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into the services the agency provides. The ED will also operate as the CEO to their sister organization, Kindle Communities Inc., a non-profit and socially responsible landlord that provides housing to youth in the community, situated out of the Shelldale Centre location.


As an important figure to the agency and within the community, FCSGW is seeking a dynamic and thoughtful leader for the role of Executive Director. You will bring a post-secondary degree in social work, ideally with a Masters in Social Work, and possess relevant leadership experience in the child welfare or social services sector. You will have experience in the areas of social work, finance, operations, HR, and funder development and relations. A natural relationship builder, you will bring superior communication skills to interact with stakeholders, the community, and the media. With the changing landscape within child welfare, you will bring a creative and visionary approach to lead the agency through this innovative period in the sector.
