Full-Time Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President of CID

Job Description

Position Objective: 

To support the Senior Vice President of the Cruelty Investigations Department (CID) and the work of the department as a whole

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform research and respond to various inquiries about a wide range of animal rights topics

• Draft correspondence and respond to inquiries and requests on behalf of the Senior Vice President

• Assist the Senior Vice President with local and state legislative efforts in Virginia and North Carolina

• Serve as an interdepartmental point of contact for internal matters

• Identify and attend community events to advance local outreach efforts

• Create, develop and implement various educational campaigns and outreach projects

• Cross-train and fill in for staff members in various department divisions

• Write speeches and attend functions

• Professionally advocate PETA’s positions on issues to the media and general public

• Serve as the on-call staff member for the Community Animal Project emergency pager as well as for local and national disaster situations and other field emergency needs

• Perform fieldwork as needed

• Assist with animal shelter tasks, including animal care and feeding

• Exercise sound judgment and confidentiality at all times

• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

• Degree in a related field or equivalent experience

• A minimum of two years of office experience

• Public-speaking experience preferred

• Animal sheltering experience preferred

• Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Proven exceptional research skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Planner, and Outlook)

• Excellent decision-making skills and the proven ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment

• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

• Superior organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

• Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally

• Willingness and ability to be on 24-hour emergency call, as needed

• Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle

• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver’s license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record

• This position requires proof of the COVID-19 full vaccination and booster

• Support for PETA’s philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA’s positions on issues

• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
