Full-Time Event Marketing Coordinator – $21.36-$40.86/hour – EVENT002234

Job Description

Salary range is $21.63 to $40.86 per hour with a midpoint of $31.25.  New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

GENERAL PURPOSE: 

The Experiential Marketing Program within the Communications Department. The Event Marketing Coordinator supports agency goals of ridership retention/acquisition, Sound Transit brand awareness and employee engagement. Will be assigned coordinate public-facing and internal events with logistics and technical support, work with vendors, create and maintain project schedules and asset production coordination. Must be a clear and concise writer and exhibit developing project management skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

• Supports the Agency’s event marketing program; assisting with grand openings, new service launches, rider appreciation and service promotions.

• Supports the Agency’s employee communications with large-scale employee experiences.

• Supports event lead including tracking event schedule, assignments and deliverables, and budget. In addition, as assigned; speaking programs and invitations, site plans, on-site materials and giveaways, refreshments, parking and transportation plans and any necessary permits.

• On-site event coordination. Includes assisting with set up, tear down, and serves as contact for staff and vendors.

• Meeting coordination including scheduling, attendee communications, agenda setting, note taking and tracking follow up/assignments.

• Supports communications and marketing strategy and planning as needed including project coordination; developing and tracking schedules, assignments, budgets and asset production and ad trafficking.

• Champions and models Sound Transit’s core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree in communications, marketing, or closely related field and three years of experience in marketing/communications, event coordination, marketing internship or related role; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

Valid state driver’s license.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Marketing and event planning principles and practices including integrated communications coordination.

• Sound Transit, its current services, and system expansion plans.

• Commitment to the Agency’s values of passenger-focus, equity, inclusion, and other core values.

• Other communications functions such as public relations, visual design a plus.

• Ability to learn new computer software and web-based applications a plus.

• Establishing relationships and working collaboratively with teams across disciplines to meet deadlines and produce quality products.

• Strong organizational skills, detail oriented and able to multitask.

• Coordinating work plans, including tracking deliverables, deadlines and assignments, facilitating review and approval processes, fact-checking, proofreading and applying established standards to ensure completeness, accuracy and quality.

• Utilizing creative thinking to help with event planning, campaigns and other promotions.

• Software programs such as Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, etc.).

Physical Demands / Work Environment:   

• Most work is performed in a standard office environment. Some work is done out in the field, preparing for and producing events.

• May be subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds, may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, and extreme noise when working in the field at special events/activities.
