Full-Time Estimating Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

The Estimating Specialist position is directly responsible for providing quote estimates for custom product order fulfillment requests based on supplied specifications.  The general responsibilities of the position include positive team and vendor collaboration to support optimal customer service and on-time fulfillment of orders.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

•   Estimating:  Work directly with Sales team on requests for quoting of custom product order opportunities.  Receive, review, confirm specifics of custom product quote requests, to solicit and acquire quoted fulfillment costs that accurately match the requested product. Submit quote requests to vendors, and work directly with vendors, to acquire cost quotes for custom product fulfillment. Provide custom quote request costing and/or pricing to Sales in alignment with standard procedures.  Document and track custom quote requests and detail. 60%

•   Provide support to the Client Management and Sales teams related to operational capabilities (Subject Matter Expert). Explain capabilities and pricing structures to internal partners. Provide custom pricing for different lines of business. 10%

•   Work with print vendors and outsource partners to implement outsourced projects. 10%

•   Work closely with sales representatives and internal contacts to understand client requests and to determine the best product/solution for a given situation. 10%

•   Reporting and other duties as assigned. 10%

 

EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE UTILIZED

•   Business applications: Microsoft, Google, Slack

 

COMMUNICATION AND CONTACTS

Excellent verbal and written communication – including the ability to interact effectively, professionally, and positively with all levels of staff, management, and vendors.

Proficient as a liaison with both internal departments and external vendors and customers.  Able to articulate options to sales representatives and provide information and expertise daily to a variety of functions.

 

DECISION MAKING

Strong ability to make decisions: Identify critical factors that affect the outcome of a decision, evaluate options accurately, anticipate outcomes and consequences, navigate risk, communicate, and follow through.

 

OTHER

This position’s primary work schedule is dictated by production schedules. The primary work schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, with occasional need for coverage on Saturday and Sunday.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

•   High School Diploma or GED (Required)

 

EXPERIENCE

•   Minimum 3 years’ experience in print production; knowledge of printing, print materials, and print/bindery components. (Required)

•   Minimum 3 years’ experience with print estimating and quoting. (Required)

•   Minimum 2 years’ experience working directly with fulfillment and supply vendors. (Required)

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

•   Self-motivated, self-sufficient, and highly productive.

•   Strong attention to detail.

•   Ability to prioritize.

•   Problem solving ability to analyze, understand, communicate, and resolve problems.

•   Advanced proficiency with computers and business productivity applications.

•   Familiarity with a variety of print production processes as well as in depth knowledge of overall printing concepts and processes is helpful

•   Must be able to initiate and implement process improvement.

•   Ability to work with numbers related to the financial performance of the project.
